Blinn Cybersecurity Club kicked off our first official meeting this week with 14 members in attendance as we introduced the club and explored one of the most important fundamentals of cybersecurity: password security.
Members learned how weak passwords can be cracked through a live demonstration of two common attack methods: brute-force guessing and comparing password hashes against large lists of commonly used passwords. The demonstration highlighted how quickly predictable passwords can be exposed and why strong passwords are essential.
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make our first meeting a success. If you are interested in cybersecurity, tech, or hands-on learning, we would love to have you join us at our next meeting in the STEI building (p.s. we will have pizza!)
